Our motto is Faith, Hope, Love and that is what we live by at Kyrios. We have faith in God, but also in each and every child. We have hope in the future of every learner and we believe that we are equipping them to be the best that they can be. Through all of this is the golden thread of love – love for our Maker, ourselves and each other.
SPORT: We currently offer netball, soccer, athletics and mini cricket. We have also introduced our learners to field hockey.
CULTURE: The school offers chess, art club, drama, choir, music (recorder), public speaking. In 2019 three of our secondary school learners were selected to take part in the nationals public speaking competition. There is also a weekly Bible study and school newspaper, The Rooster.
Kyrios offers the Department of Education’s National Curriculum, CAPS. The acronym stands for Curriculum Assessment Policy Statements.
The difference between private and state schools (aside from the fees) is the approach to teaching, learner-teaching ratio (20:1 at Kyrios), supplementary material created and provided to students, the way that the CAPS curriculum content is tested and examined and the standard of progression and promotion.
Kyrios is situated on a 13-hectare farm on the outskirts of Bloemfontein near Tempe Airport in the Groenvlei area. This “rural” setting, with its beautiful gardens and open spaces, creates a calm and relaxed atmosphere. Transport is available from different pick up points in town. The grounds belong to the school board and is continually being developed.
